Registration is open for teams of undergraduate and graduate students from throughout the nation to participate in NASA’s Robotic Mining Competition: Lunabotics 2021. This competition aims to teach university students about the methods of NASA systems engineering while they design, build, and operate lunar excavator prototypes. Student ideas and solutions might be used in future NASA missions to the Moon and possibly even Mars. The competition features a “Design It, Build It, Dig It Challenge”. Teams can either compete in all three portions or just in the “Design It” phase. Teams that opt to compete in the live events will have the opportunity to demonstrate their excavator robots at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex next spring. Competition registration closes Wednesday September 16, 2020 at noon EDT. More information on the competition can be found here: https://www.nasa.gov/offices/education/centers/kennedy/technology/nasarmc.html
