International Observe the Moon Night – 2024

Join the global celebration on September 14, 2024 for International Observe the Moon Night.  This is a time to come together with fellow moon enthusiasts and curious people worldwide. Everyone on Earth is invited to take part in celestial observations and honor cultural and personal connections to the moon.

Whether you have a telescope to observe, want to express yourself artistically, or prefer to take a virtual field trip to expand your knowledge of the moon, NASA provides viewers with 10 Ways to Observe the Moon on their website. There are several ways you can participate in Observe the Moon Night:

    • Register to host an event for friends, family, your community or another group to observe the moon on International Observe the Moon Night. You can learn more about how to host an event from NASA.
    • View live streams from supporters across the USA. You can view past event information online from the NASA website.
    • Join or view the conversation on social media using #ObserveTheMoon to explore lunar views and art from around the world.

Share your photos of the Moon!

Take photos of the moon on International Observe the Moon Night and share to your social media (Instagram, Facebook and/or Twitter) using #ObserveTheMoon, #CTObserveTheMoon and #CTSpaceGrant.  We enjoy seeing how Connecticut residents observe the moon!
