Project Title: K-12 Professional Learning
Brief Project/Internship Description: 
K-12 Professional Learning Interns will work with a team to support programming that helps K-12 educators to improve their teaching of science and other subjects (see https://ctsciencecenter.org/pd). Interns will learn how high-quality programs are developed and implemented while directly contributing to their success. Intern efforts include: supporting R&D for hands-on or computer-based activities; formatting and organizing documents and resource libraries for print and digital use; gathering supplies for, setting up, and assisting with logistics at workshops; maintaining databases; gathering and editing video footage; and analyzing survey, assessment, and participation data. Interns will also have occasional opportunities to observe and support student programming (see https://ctsciencecenter.org/teens/innovation/ and https://ctsciencecenter.org/programs/camps/).

Required Qualifications: 
Anticipated full-time student during 2018 Spring semester enrolled in an academic affiliate college/university with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. U.S. citizenship is required. Must be able to transport supplies and equipment (lifting up to 50 pounds) and travel to/from program sites (mileage is reimbursed); must be able to be on site to assist with workshops in the Greater Hartford area as early as 7:30 a.m.
Preferred Qualifications:
 Demonstrated strong interest in becoming a teacher or otherwise supporting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) learning and/or project management; very eager to learn. Ability to work independently on several tasks simultaneously while staying organized; communicate clearly and professionally in writing and orally; collaborate closely with a wide range of professionals; talent for learning how to use a wide variety of computer applications and A/V equipment. Ability to function well in office- and school-based settings with moderate noise and high activity.
