Community College Quadcopter Challenge

The NASA CT Space Grant Consortium at the University of Hartford is proud to host the Connecticut Community College Quadcopter Challenge that will be taking place on Friday, May 13, 2016.  Teams competing in the CC Quadcopter Challenge will have to navigate their own quadcopters throughout a series of tasks.  This year the following teams will be participating:  Housatonic Flyers (Housatonic CC), NV Flying High (NVCC), Quad Squad A (NCCC), Quad Squad B (NCCC), and Quinebaug Quadcopter (QVCC). The challenge starts at 2PM and should last no longer than 3 hours; Bring your friends and come support the teams that have worked hard all semester!   On-campus location TBD.  Check back soon for updates!...

Come see Dr. Mae Jemison speak about the achievements and obstacles faced throughout her life! A Peace Corp volunteer, NASA astronaut, and now principal of the 100 Year Starship Project, Mae Jemsion is a strong advocate for STEM education and the application of science and technology to every day life.  Admission is free and will be open to the public.   Due to inclement weather, the deadline has been extended.  The new deadline is Tuesday, February 9th at 2:00 PM.   The Connecticut Space Grant Consortium’s Spring 2016 awards are now open for applications!  Aside from Scholarship, Fellowship, Research, Internship, and Travel Grants, the CTSGC has created a Student-Faculty Summer Research Project Grant that will enable undergraduate students, university and/or community college, to gain meaningful research experience in CTSGC Affiliate research laboratories. SSEP STEM Opportunity for ISS Mission 10

The National Center for Earth and Space Science Education and the Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Space Education have announced Mission 10 to the International Space Station. The Students Spaceflight Experiment Program is a STEAM education opportunity that immerses grade 5-16 students across a community in an authentic, high visibility research experience, where student teams design and propose real microgravity experiments to fly in low Earth orbit on the International Space Station. Each participating community will be provided a real microgravity research mini-laboratory capable of supporting a single experiment, and all launch services to fly the experiment to the International Space Station in Fall 2016.  The experiment will then be returned safely to Earth for student harvesting and analysis. Kerbal Space Program Mun Shot Competition

Come and join the Kerbal Space Program Mun Shot event to be held from 10 AM to 2 PM at Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday, November 21!  Participating teams will use provided copies of the KerbalEdu space flight simulator game to launch a virtual spacecraft to a satellite and back.  It is a great opportunity to practice physics, math and engineering skills, as well as to have fun!  Registration is open to all.
